AMMAN - A new agreement, donating dozens of computers and other electronic equipment, was signed by Save the Children Jordan, the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) on July 3, 2018.
The donation came as a part of the strategic partnership between Save the Children Jordan and the WFP, which aims to support Syrian refugees and Jordanian host communities affected by the Syrian conflict.
The agreement was signed by Rania Malki, CEO of Save the Children Jordan, Omar Quteishat, VTC Director General, and Majid Yahya, WFP Country Director.
“Save the children Jordan is keen to provide the necessary support to national institutions as this is at the core of our work and duty,” Malki said.
The equipment these organisations are donating will be distributed to VTC centres across all governorates in Jordan. This equipment will aid the VTC as they provide trainees with specified trainings that will aid them in the workplace.
At the meeting, Malki presented Yahya with a honorary trophy in order to thank them for their continued support of Save the Children Jordan. Yahya attributed the successful agreement to a “solid national partnership” with both Save the Children Jordan and the VTC.
This joint programme implemented by Save the Children Jordan and WFP, and funded by the Government of Japan, has provided more than 3,500 students in 32 VTC centres across 10 governorates with training and job opportunities.
“We are always happy to join partnerships and programmes that serve the Jordanian citizens,” said Quteishat.
